Wine & Mushroom Festival Special!

November 4m 2011 begins Mendocino County's Wine & Mushroom Festival. We invite you to take advantage of our Special Wine & Mushroom Package. The Package begins on Friday, November 4, 2011 with a fascinating tour of the Ridgewood Ranch, home of the legendary racehorse, Seabiscuit, followed by a Wine & Mushroom Reception at Parducci Winery - music, wine, food and art!
Then on Saturday, November 5, 2011 the signature event of the Festival - all aboard the Wine & Mushroom Train. It leaves Willits at 10:00 am on a breathtaking ride to Camp Mendocino. There you will enjoy a mushroom cookoff, mushroom cooking demonstrations, wine, mushroom hikes, pairing information and a great silent auction. All benefitting the Frank R Howard Memorial Foundation Medical Campus. On Sunday, end your weekend with a Mushroom Brunch at the Mendocino County Museum in Willits!

Its a gorgeous time of year in Mendocino County. We have a BEAUTIFUL shown below for you to enjoy our Inland Wine Country to the Redwoods! Enjoy!

Hwy 101 Corridor; Hopland to Piercy
3 hours to drive 92 miles

Trace the route of the historic Redwood Highway. Begin in Hopland for lunch,m wine tasting,m bocce ball and a store full of solar and other ecological living ideas. Head North directly up Highway 101 to Ukiah or take a beautiful country drive - take Highway 175 east to Campovida Winery. Continue one 175 for one-fourth of a mile,m turn onto East Side Road, head North through the vineyards and pear orchards for 10 miles. At Talmadge Road, turn left to go into Ukiah.

In Ukiah take a walk on School Street by the Courthouse, visit the outstanding Grace Hudson Museum and go shopping in one of America's award winning small towns.

Continue North on Highway 101 to Willits and a definite place to stop is the Mendocino County Museum on Commercial Street - Pomo basketry, an excellent Seabiscuit Display, train memorabilia and the fascinating history of our county. Stop in the boutique shops along Main Street.

Continue north of 101 to Leggett and take a walk in one of several redwood parks. Swim and picnic along the Eel River,m and visit the world famous Drive Through Tree. Confusion Hill along Hwy 101 is a must see!

Return back to Willits and enjoy our hot tub, or Massage before heading off to bed!

We have had a busy few weeks. First, the Kate Wolfe Festival in Laytonville at the end of June. 3 days of great artist line up, warm weather and great venue. This festival is attended by young and old, some camping, some hoteling it and everyone has a wonderful time. Check it out for next year at www.katewolfefestival.com.

This past week has been Willits Frontier Days - which boasts the oldest continual rodeo in the State of California! Hometown celebration began on Thursday night with merchants staying open late and booths, music and great food out on the streets. Carnival, street dancing and last night and tonight is the rodeo. Good old-fashion hometown fun for everyone.

July is proving to be warm weathered, fun things to do and see. Ride the skunk train, or swim in our rivers or lakes or our own swimming pool! Hike the old logging trails, visit the Mendocino County Museum or Ridgewood Ranch, home of the legendary racehorse, Seabiscuit. Visit our Inland Wineries - second Saturday of the month many have food and music and its a great way to relax on a summer afternoon!

30th Willits Community Festival & Car Show

The event started with a Show & Shine on Saturday, a Dinner & Dance on Saturday night, then the show on Sunday. This is an annual event every Memorial Day Weekend - so come join the fun!

30th Annual Community Festival & Car Show

May 28 & 29, 2011 is the 30th Annual Community Festival & Car Show in Willits. Come join us for this fun filled weekend - starting with:

A Boogie Woogie Walk for Life on Saturday morning. The walk is 10,000 steps walk (approx 5 miles) that begins in downtown Willits and winds through the neighborhoods. Registration begins at 9:30 AM

Cruizin 101 - Car Show participants are encouraged to Cruise Main Street from 1-3 PM. Look for the Pink Balloons and Cruiser Specials at local participating businesses.

Top 30 Boogie Dance & Dinner and Show N Shine - Enjoy some good food and good times dancing to some great old classic tunes performed by COTTONWOOD BAND! Break out that poodle skirt and put on your dancin shoes and bebop the night away. Stoll through the parking lot and check out some of the car show participants polishing up their beautiful classics at the Show N Shine as they prepare for the Car Show on Sunday. 5-9 PM

Sunday, May 29

7- 10 AM get your engine starting with the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast. Then take a stroll down memory lane and enjoy the beautiful Pre-1973 vehicles on display in Recreation Grove Park from 10-4 PM.

The Mendocino County Museum is located across the street from the festival and is rated as one of the best small town musuems in the country. This musuem is open from 10 - 4 PM.

The Roots of Motive Power has carefully maintained and preserved historic steam and diesel-powered equipment used in the California north coast logging industry from the 1850's to present. They will be open to the public during the festival and car show with volunteers to answer questions about logging and railroad equipment.

Horseless Carriage Club

We are pleased to have hosted the Horseless Carriage Club this past Thursday, Friday & Saturday! Their antique cars are pre 1910 and each one was a work of art, immaculately taken care of and looked gorgeous in our parking lot. They were able to base out of our hotel and take day trips to Emandahl Farms, Ridgewood Ranch, home of the legendary racehorse Seabiscuit, and a beautiful ride on Hwy 162 along the Eel River to Covelo and finish on Sunday morning with a tour of the Mendocino County Museum in Willits for a tour and lunch.

Our parking area accommodated their vehicles, trailers and antique cars and we were able to provide breakfast and dinner.

We want to thank them for staying with us and enjoying gorgeous Mendocino County!

Spring @ Thimbleberry Trail

Thimbleberry Trail is just one of the many gorgeous hiking trail in Willits that were once old logging trails. It is a great place to spend an hour or several hours - as you can take trails off in various directions. Cross creeks, enjoy the Redwoods, the wildflowers and a thoroughly relaxing time. Dogs love this trail!

Spring in Mendocino County is one of the most beautiful times of year! Today I saw the wild mustard growing among the vineyards, a sure sign Spring is on its way. The lush green hills, the flowers, the streams flowing . . . the earth awakening after winter's sleep.
